Listed below are the workshops that the Wyoming EHDI Program currently offers. If you have additional or different training needs, please contact the Wyoming EHDI Program at 307-721-6212.

 

1) Hearing Screening Training: Obtaining, Interpreting, Referring, and Following-up on Hearing Screening Results for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers

This training session is designed for hearing screeners, hearing screening data managers, speech language pathologists, hospital nurses, parents, administrators, early childhood specialists, and anyone else interested in the hearing health of children under the age of five.  The instructor for this session is Nancy Pajak, MS, CCC-A.

 

2) The Wyoming EHDI Information System (EHDI-IS): How it Can Help You Manage Your Hearing/Vision Screenings, Follow-up, and Referrals

This training session is designed for hearing/vision screeners and data managers.  The instructor for this session is Bradley Hartman Bakken, PhD.

 

3) Where to Begin: Tools and Strategies for Appropriate Early Intervention for Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers with Hearing Loss

This training session covers hearing loss in general, the effects of hearing loss, the use of sign language, and in-depth information regarding the auditory skill development hierarchy, and strategies to support the development of listening and spoken language skills. This training is designed specifically for speech language pathologists and teachers of the deaf who are providing services to children from birth to five years of age. The instructor for this session is Susan Fischer, MS, CCC-SLP.

 

4) Supporting Children with Hearing Loss in Natural Environments

This training session covers hearing loss in general, the effects of hearing loss, and strategies for working with hearing impaired children in natural environments (home, daycare, preschool, etc.). This training session is designed for all those working directly with children from birth to five years of age (SLPs, early childhood specialists, OTs, PTs, teaching assistants, etc.). Parents are also welcome. The instructor for this session is Susan Fischer, MS, CCC-SLP.

 

5) Auditory, Language, and Behavior Supports for Children with Hearing Loss

This training session covers hearing loss in general, the effects of hearing loss, auditory verbal strategies to build listening and spoken language development, pragmatic language development, and strategies to support positive behaviors in children with hearing loss.  It is designed for all those working directly with children from birth to five years of age (SLPs, early childhood specialists, OTs, PTs, teaching assistants, etc.).  The instructor for this session is Susan Fischer, MS, CCC-SLP.

 

6) Auditory Verbal Strategies to Support  Listening and Spoken Language Skills: Incorporating Music and Literacy Targets  

This training session covers hearing loss in general, the effects of hearing loss, the auditory skill development hierarchy, auditory verbal strategies to build listening and spoken language skills, and information regarding creating and incorporating music and literacy targets into therapy sessions.  This training is designed specifically for SLPs and teachers of the deaf who are providing services to children from birth to five years of age.  The instructor for this session is Susan Fischer, MS, CCC-SLP.

    This training will be held at the Child Development Center of Natrona County (2020 East 12th Street). 7.0 hrs of STARS, PTSB, and Wyoming Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology credit is available. Lunch is on your own.

    This training will be held at the Cokeville Town Hall (110 Pine Street). 7.0 hrs of STARS, PTSB, and Wyoming Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology credit is available. Lunch is on your own.

    This training will be held at the White Mountain Library (2935 Sweetwater Drive, Rock Springs, Wyoming). 7.0 hrs of STARS, PTSB, and Wyoming Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology credit is available. Lunch is on your own.
